  • Chairman of the Board, President & CEO
Mr. Smith co-founded Rydal Energy Ltd. in August, of 1993. In November, 1994, Rydal Energy and New Cache Petroleum Ltd. merged, where Mr. Smith served as President and Chief Executive Officer until the company was sold in January, 1999. Mr. Smith joined Corsair Exploration Ltd. as President and Chief Executive Officer in July, 1999 and held that position until the company was sold in June, 2002. In September, 2002, Mr. Smith joined Meridian Energy Corporation as President and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. On January 1, 2004 he ceded his position as President but held the positions of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until the company was sold in March, 2005. He is currently a director of True Energy Inc. and a director of Cruiser Oil & Gas Ltd., Rolling Thunder Exploration Ltd., Madalena Ventures Inc. and Seeker Petroleum Ltd.

Mr. Dunn was President of Cardium Service & Supply Ltd., a company involved in the oil services business, between 1981 and 1999, as well as President of Colorado Silica Sand Inc., a mineral extraction company with operations in Colorado, Texas and the United Kingdom from 1992 to 1997. Mr. Dunn is currently the Chairman of the board of directors of True Energy Inc. and a director of Precision Drilling Corporation and RentCash Inc.

Mr. Macdonald is the President of Bamako Investment Management Ltd., a private holding and consulting company and has held such position since July 1994. He is currently Chairman and director of Cirrus Energy Ltd. and Rolling Thunder Exploration Ltd., and a director of Breaker Energy Ltd., Artemis Exploration Inc. and Stratabound Minerals Inc.

Mr. Woo was previously Vice-President of Engineering with both New Cache Petroleum Ltd. and Corsair Exploration Ltd. and is a petroleum engineer with 35 years of industry experience. Mr. Woo, from November, 1981 to April, 1993 operated his own engineering and management consulting firm. Thereafter, Mr. Woo was involved with all aspects of oil and gas management and was Senior Vice-President of High Bullen Resources Ltd. prior to joining New Cache Petroleum Ltd. in November, 1996. Mr. Woo joined Corsair Exploration Ltd. as Vice-President, Engineering in September, 1999 and held that position until the company was sold in June, 2002. In September, 2002, Mr. Woo joined Meridian Energy Corporation as Vice-President Engineering and held that position until the company was sold in March 2005. He is currently a director of Madalena Ventures Inc.

Mr. Balderston is a Chartered Accountant and independent businessman with over 38 years of public accounting experience specializing in public and private energy sector companies. Previously, Mr. Balderston was a partner with Ernst & Young Associates from 1990 to 2005. He is currently a director of Ember Resources Inc., Essential Energy Services Trust, VGS Seismic Canada Inc., EnerVest Energy and Oilsands Total Return Trust, EnerVest FTS Limited Partnership 2006, EnerVest FTS Limited Partnership 2006 II, and EnerVest Limited Partnership 2007.
CLINTON T. BROUGHTON, P. Eng.(3)

Mr. Broughton is a professional engineer who has been continuously active in the oil and gas industry for the past 40 years, including 22 years in senior corporate management roles. Prior to his retirement on November 30, 2006, he was Executive Vice President of True Energy Trust (“True”) and had been the senior operating officer for True since the company’s inception on September 1, 2000. Mr. Broughton received his engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1965 and is a Life Member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and a Lifetime Member of the Petroleum Society of CIM. Mr. Broughton currently serves as a director of Vero Energy Inc. (“Vero”) and is a member of Vero’s audit, corporate governance and reserves committees.

ATTENTION: Corporate Secretary
Letters addressed to the Board, any of its members of the independent directors, as a group, are reviewed to determine if a response from the Board is appropriate. While the Board oversees management, it does not participate in the day-to-day functions and operations Cork and is not normally in the best position to respond to inquires on those matters. Inquiries on operations or day-to-day management of Cork will be directed to the appropriate personnel within Cork for a response. The Board has instructed the Corporate Secretary to review all correspondence and, in her discretion, not to forward any items if they:
  • are not relevant to Cork’s operations, policies and philosophies;
  • are commercial in nature; or
  • are not appropriate for consideration by the Board
All inquiries will receive a written response from either the Board or management, as appropriate. The Corporate Secretary maintains a log of all correspondence addressed to members of the Board. Directors may review the log at any time and request copies of any correspondence received.
